Gartner’s 2023 Hype Cycle recognizes Chooch as a key player in edge computer vision

Chooch has garnered recognition as a sample vendor for its work in edge computer vision in the recently published July 2023 Hype Cycle for Edge Computing.

This report outlines edge computer vision as a transformational innovation to influence various industries within the coming 2 to 5 years. These industries include security, surveillance, factory inspection systems, retail store experiences, facial recognition and autonomous vehicles.

Gartner says edge computer vision (CV) refers to the application of artificial intelligence (AI) on data streams to infer operational and business intelligence in real time. This is achieved by leveraging low-resource edge hardware, which receives data from core compute services. Edge CV encompasses various techniques, including image, action, pattern recognition, object counting and classification and facial authentication.

The Gartner Hype Cycle delves into the importance of edge computer vision, identifying it as a pivotal technological breakthrough that has the potential to reshape business operations comprehensively.

The report explores the commercial drivers behind edge computer vision, the potential challenges businesses may encounter when implementing it and the steps necessary for assessing an organization’s readiness to incorporate edge CV into its operations.

This April, Chooch made headlines for creating ImageChat, a method for generating precise computer vision models using text prompts. The company says this AI solution enhances data reliability and accuracy, particularly in applications requiring object detection and detailed reasoning.
