Lenovo CTO study reveals how “new IT” may bring about a more connected future

Lenovo, a global technology company, recently studied over 500 CTOs from around the world to better understand how they view the future of IT. Released at Lenovo’s global “Tech World” innovation event, the study found most CTOs are optimistic about the future of hybrid cloud and see cybersecurity, accessibility and regulation/compliance as major challenges. Additionally, compatibility issues and user experience were the top pain points when making IT infrastructure-related decisions.

“This research gives us deep insights about the priorities and expectations from global CTOs, and we will leverage this knowledge to better help our customers harness data and create insights to transform their business,” stated Lenovo CTO Dr. Yong Rui.

The study found that Lenovo’s “new IT” concept resonates strongly among global CTOs. The latter see it as encompassing several critical areas of technology. Lenovo sees “new IT” as a system where client devices, edge computing, cloud computing, network and AI work together to give organizations solutions to problems as they move towards digitalization.

“We’re encouraged to see our vision of the New IT architecture resonating so strongly with CTOs across the world,” added Dr. Rui.

Over 4 in 5 CTOs say that Lenovo’s description of New IT captures and describes the future of Information Communications Technology (ICT) extremely or very well. Other components that may shape future technology architecture, according to these CTOs, include R&D/innovation, data management, and security.

“These research findings are incredibly valuable as the ICT industry continues to innovate and build new technology capabilities for the future,” added Dr. Rui.

Lenovo recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of its ThinkSystem products. Lenovo introduced new enhancements to the entire product line to commemorate this milestone. The company aims to offer scalable solutions that can easily handle data for companies with hybrid cloud environments, edge environments, and AI workloads in various industries such as retail, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, telecom and others.
