HGC EdgeX platform to help enterprises with digital transformation, metaverse plans

HGC has long been serving customers in the OTT space with networking services, but now the company has is seeking to take EdgeX, a digital infrastructure platform, beyond content providers. With the help of the HGC EdgeX, the company says enterprises can take advantage of a services that offer improved connectivity, integrated cybersecurity, direct cloud connections, data center and managed services, and system integration capabilities.

The company is marketing the digital platform as a way to help companies’ expansion into the metaverse and next-generation internet (Web3). The set of services under HGC EdgeX solve several underlying issues, such as lack of domain expertise, experience and failure to manage digital services at scale, according to the company. It does so by unifying a variety of digital infrastructure services.

“EdgeX by HGC not only offers faster and smoother service delivery, but it also expands OTT services with increased edge agility to capitalize on the enormous growth potential around this sector, said Cliff Tam, HGC’s International Business senior vice president for Global Data Strategy & Operations.

For connectivity, HGC EdgeX offers the Eyeball-as-a-Service (EaaS) to allow enterprises to reduce latency, improve connectivity speeds and reduce time to market. Leveraging a cybersecurity portfolio which includes DDoS mitigation, data security design, phishing assessment, bot detection, and penetration testing, executives say HGC EdgeX provides a complete security suite to ensure assets are protected.

“By allowing OTTs to offload their cloud infrastructure and colocation services while increasing the network speeds, we are enabling users to focus on pushing the boundaries of innovation which is so crucial as the metaverse begins to take shape,” Tam further added.

The adopters of HGC EdgeX will have access to enterprise-grade private network connectivity with public cloud providers’ direct connect services for deployment, expansion, and escape from public internet congestion. EdgeX also includes the company’s expertise in helping enterprises with planning, design, and integration of the systems.

Last year, HGC launched a Eyeball-as-a-Service (EaaS) in Singapore to OTT operators, content providers and e-commerce platforms to expand their footprint across a wide variety of market locations.
