Deeplite Supports tinyML Foundation as Platinum Strategic Partner

Canadian-AI company Deeplite joined the edge computing-focused tinyML Foundation as a Platinum Strategic Member to expand its technical and industrial footprint as the company advances deep learning engines deployed on cloud servers and edge devices.

For the rising shift of cloud computing to edge processing, tinyML Foundation has played an important role in the deployment of ultra-low-power machine learning models at the edge. Providing strategic guidance, technology roadmaps and promoting sustainability has been the key focus for the tinyML Foundation. The organization is working with over 10,000 members, including well-known semiconductor and electronics manufacturers such as Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics, Arm, and NXP Semiconductors.

“There are billions of small, connected devices everywhere. The challenge is that they have very limited resources, so how can we add intelligence to them?” said Davis Sawyer, Chief Product Officer and co-founder at Deeplite. “Being a Platinum Strategic Partner of the tinyML Foundation helps us advance the technology vision of tinyML and bring it to real-world applications. It is important to evangelize the efficiency benefits of tinyML and discover new use cases while bringing together the academic, startup and commercial communities to work together more closely,” he said.

Deeplite already manages a regional tinyML meetup in Canada, based out of Montreal and Toronto.

Last month, Deeplite introduced AI acceleration on Arm CPUs through its ultra-compact quantization, Deeplite Runtime (DeepliteRT) for faster inference and energy-efficient deployment of ML models at the edge without compromising model accuracy. Built upon the company’s existing inference optimization engine, the Deeplite Neutrino for deep neural networks optimizes the DNN models for resource-constrained applications.

Adding another new member will be seen as a boost towards accelerating the growth of the tinyML ecosystem and enabling edge AI deployments for more devices and applications on a global scale. The addition comes recently after the recent partnership of Klika Tech and tinyML Foundation, for example.
