EdgeConneX and Lambda plan 30MW AI data centers in Chicago and Atlanta

EdgeConneX and Lambda announced a collaboration to build over 30 Megawatts (MW) of high-density AI-enabled data center infrastructure in Chicago and Atlanta.

The Chicago facility will be a 23MW single-tenant data center utilizing hybrid cooling technologies for advanced AI and cloud workloads. It will be ready for service in 2026.

AI infrastructure leader Lambda plans to deploy over a million GPUs by the end of the 2020s as part of its 2GW+ vision. EdgeConneX’s Ingenuity solution supports high-performance computing (HPC) and AI workloads with densities exceeding 600+kW per rack.

EdgeConneX’s hybrid cooling design combines liquid-to-the-chip and air cooling, optimizing energy efficiency for next-gen AI accelerators.

“Our partnership with Lambda underscores our commitment to delivering cutting-edge infrastructure solutions tailored for the AI era,” says Don MacNeil, chief revenue officer for EdgeConneX. “We empower the most demanding AI and HPC workloads with unmatched density and flexibility with Ingenuity’s next-generation AI-ready data center solutions and our liquid cooling capabilities. This solution enables Lambda to lead in AI innovation and advance the future of AI-driven technologies for its cloud and hyperscale customers.”

The partnership highlights Lambda’s focus on scalable, future-ready AI infrastructure and EdgeConneX’s commitment to sustainable data center solutions.
