Vecow rolls out Time Sync Box for mobile robot and autonomous vehicle applications

Vecow, an embedded solution provider, has unveiled the Time Sync Box, a solution designed to meet the increasing need for multi-sensor synchronization. It caters to various edge applications, including autonomous vehicles, manufacturing, and AIoT/Industry 4.0.

According to Vecow, the VTS-1000, powered by an FPGA and equipped with Vecow Time Sync Technology, provides enhanced driving safety, precise navigation and reliability.

Thomas Su, vice president of Vecow, says the VTS-1000 Time Sync Box integrates hardware and software features, reshaping the landscape of advanced applications.

“Moreover, the VTS-1000 enhances robot perception, precision, and positional capabilities, making it well suited for navigating the complexities of dynamic outdoor environments,” Su explains.

The Vecow VTS-1000 utilizes the Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC and integrates technologies like time Winding, time stamping and time keeping. These innovations significantly enhance the synchronization, perception, precision, and positioning capabilities of multiple sensors. By employing synchronized internal clocks, delivering accurate time format outputs, and providing uninterrupted time information, the VTS-1000 ensures reliable performance in diverse conditions.

According to Joseph Huang, the sales lead at Vecow, with the increasing use of sensors in IoT applications, there are challenges related to synchronizing data from multiple sensors.

“Thus, we believe the VTS-1000 plays an important role in aligning data generated by the robot’s sensors, such as LiDAR, camera and GPS,” adds Huang. “It is capable of meeting our global partner’s needs.”

The VTS-1000 supports tools like daisy chain for expanding synchronization channels. The company notes that dual GNSS antennas and an IMU yaw fusion algorithm ensure reliable information output via the Ethernet port.

Python, a programming language, offers a user-friendly tool for integrating systems and configuring synchronization protocols based on sensor needs. The VTS-1100, the VTS-1200 and the VTS-1200GU have an operating temperature range of -40°C to 75°C.

Vecow says it offers high-quality AIoT solutions. Its range of products includes AI-ready inference systems, fanless embedded systems and multi-touch computers/displays. They specialize in machine vision, autonomous car, robotic control and other edge AI applications.

Last month, Vecow launched the MTA-1010W multi-touch computer. This 10.1-inch industrial computer offers up to 2.3 TOPS of AI performance and is used in applications like vending machines, smart buildings and Industry 4.0. With a fanless design and robust power inputs, it operates in harsh environments. Vecow provides Android and Linux OS options for the device.
