Sunlight.io wins IT award for most innovative quick service restaurant digital solution

Sunlight.io, an edge infrastructure company, has announced that it won the Most Innovative Quick Service Restaurant Digital Solutions category at the IT Awards 2022. The award recognized Sunlight for assisting restaurant chains to improve customer experience with less IT infrastructure and management time.

The company says Sunlight Edge is a secure, zero-touch infrastructure that helps turn edge data into real-time insight. With its solution, Sunlight claims that running and maintaining apps and infrastructure at the edge is as simple as it is in the cloud.

The IT Awards 2022, presented by SME News, shines a spotlight on the IT sector for its dedication to helping keep businesses afloat during the pandemic. In an age where society is digitizing at breakneck speeds, the role of IT has become increasingly important in maintaining connectivity and preventing business shutdowns. The judging for the awards is based on customer dedication, innovation, business growth, and more. A separate research team looks into each company thoroughly before deciding on the winner.

Sunlight has been partnering with restaurant chains to digitize their business and lower the cost of in-restaurant applications. Today’s customers want a better experience – personalized, touchless ordering, quick drive-thrus with pickup times measured in seconds, and consistent food quality. These applications require a different in-restaurant infrastructure that can support all these new applications without being expensive. Sunlight says that its servers are perfect for restaurant chains because they’re small, rugged and simple to manage from one central location.

“Restaurant chains had to react quickly to changes in consumer behavior and demand during the global pandemic that hit the world in early 2020,” said Sunlight Founder & CEO Julian Chesterfield. “Plans for digital transformation have been brought forward by five years. They need to add new applications to improve customer experience across 100s or 1000s locations while running existing applications with high availability. We’re happy to be working with a number of restaurant chains to consolidate their infrastructure, automate processes and increase their pace of innovation.”

Sunlight.io also recently partnered with Avassa to develop software that can manage edge environments securely and efficiently. The companies say that the software eases the work strain for IT teams by managing edge-native software applications.
