OSS commences delivery of latest Gen 5 AI edge compute accelerator

One Stop Systems (OSS), a provider of AI transportable solutions at the edge, has begun shipping its latest Gen 5 4U Pro Accelerator System to a large composable infrastructure provider. The company estimates the total shipment value ranging between $4 million and $6 million over the forthcoming three years.

This latest iteration of the Gen 5 4U Pro Accelerator boasts a substantial enhancement in interconnect bandwidth performance, doubling that of its predecessor, the Gen 4 model. Equipped with upgraded power and cooling systems to accommodate multiple NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs featuring PCIe Gen 5, the company notes that the new accelerator promises a 4.8x surge in AI inference performance using FP8 precision compared to previous generations.

Mike Knowles, president and CEO of OSS, expressed his confidence in the product, stating: “Our customer’s adoption of this product for their leading-edge composable infrastructure platform represents a strong validation of our superior capabilities in PCI Express expansion and AI accelerator technology. Our customers are able to stay at the forefront of the latest high-performance computing technology with our highly scalable, interoperable solutions.”

The deployment of the compute accelerator is anticipated across the customer’s global network, encompassing commercial cloud data centers and military command posts, emphasizing the imperative for “performance without compromise” in these critical environments.

High-performance computing and resource-intensive AI workloads are on the rise in the edge computing market, according to Grand View Research. Demand for edge solutions is projected to grow at a 37.9% CAGR to reach $155.9 billion by 2030, with the mobile edge segment expected to grow even faster at a 49.7% CAGR to reach $58.4 billion by 2032.

This growth is driving increased demand for expansion platforms like the OSS 4U Professional Accelerator, which has the ability to process, analyze and act upon vast amounts of sensor and other data in real time using rugged interconnect technology.
