Netskope debuts SkopeAI for enhanced data protection and cyber threat defense

Netskope, a security services provider, has unveiled a new security solution, SkopeAI. It combines AI and ML to address the concerns of data protection and cyber threat defense.

The company, which provides Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions, says it strives to address the constraints of conventional security solutions that struggle to keep pace with AI-powered threats. This device democratizes advanced data protection, ensuring its accessibility to users of all technical backgrounds, the company claims.

“Netskope has fully aligned the use of AI/ML with the needs of modern security and threat defense — democratizing access to data security techniques that move at speeds the era of AI now requires. SkopeAI unleashes the power of AI/ML to protect structured and unstructured data and defend enterprises from ever-evolving threats,” says Sanjay Beri, the co-founder and chief executive officer at Netskope.

Privacy compliance and sensitive data is a growing concern across various industries. It has become mandatory for organizations to protect sensitive data. The Cloud & Threat Report from Netskope Threat Labs highlights a concerning trend: generative AI applications, such as ChatGPT, are frequently exposing source code.

To counter this threat, Netskope says its SkopeAI security solution protects enterprises against AI adversaries and effectively prevents data loss from using generative AI tools.

The SkopeAI leverages automated machine learning data classification and Train Your Own Classifier (TYOC) technology. It identifies and categorizes new data using a train-and-forget approach. These features ensure continuous protection of organizational data. Moreover, the solution leverages AI to detect diverse threats, such as polymorphic malware, new phishing web domains, zero-day threats and malicious web content.

“Forward-thinking technology companies such as Netskope were using AI and ML for security innovation long before it was trendy to say so — it’s been in our products since the day Netskope was founded,” Beri continues.

In July, Hughes Network Systems and Netskope made headlines for collaborating to offer small and medium-sized businesses cloud-based security solutions. This collaboration combines Hughes Managed Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and Software-Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN) technology, incorporating advanced security features for enhanced protection.
