Megh Computing offers AI-based video analytics solution for security and surveillance

Megh Computing, a provider of real-time, AI-based video analytics solutions, introduced a preconfigured feature for security and surveillance of office buildings and retail establishments through its VAS Smart Buildings Solution. Megh Computing’s Video Analytics Solutions (VAS) is ready to be deployed on hardware platforms for edge computing applications. The solution can automate the use of video as a signal for real-time response and insights for smart buildings, factories, and other business venues.

“We are seeing excellent traction across all geographic regions for our new VAS solution, as it provides a scalable, flexible, and performant solution to meet market needs,” said Prabhat K Gupta, CEO of Megh Computing. “The solution is designed to be white-labeled by our partners.”

Some of the applications for the VAS Smart Buildings Solution include loitering detection, intrusion detection, people occupancy, people tracking, burglary alarm system, and video surveillance for private property. The product offering employs advanced AI models to deliver enhanced operational reliability with detailed insights that aim to reduce false alarm situations. The capability to develop new AI models that can be deployed on the VAS SDK ecosystem enables developers to use the solution for custom applications at the edge.

VAS has been built on what Megh has described as “Open Analytics” principles that are intended to address issues related to scalability, performance, customization, integration, and accuracy. The VAS platform is based on the Nimble framework that implements the video customizable analytics pipeline.

Megh’s VAS Smart Buildings Solution was recently demonstrated at the Embedded Vision Summit in Santa Clara, California with a live camera feed operating on the Intel NUC edge gateway hardware platform. The Intel NUC mini desktop comes in several configuration types with options for Intel Core i5/i7 6 cores with iGPU, 32GB RAM, 500GB SSD, and Ethernet port. For software, the VAS Smart Buildings Solution provides distributed software architecture with the support for Linux Ubuntu 18.x distribution, Docker container, Kubernetes-based orchestration, and Intel OpenVINO toolkit.

The VAS platform can be targeted from edge gateways to enterprise servers in the cloud. It can be deployed across multiple venues with the monitoring through a unified VAS portal that runs AI models using CPUs, GPUs, SoCs, and FPGAs to reduce the total cost of ownership.

As the demand for edge analytics has seen increased adoption by enterprises, video analytics still remains one of the dominant data sources. Intelligent video analytics offerings support a wide range of hardware platforms such as Oosto’s edge-based video analytics and facial recognition device. With solutions like these, developers can scale the security and surveillance to remote locations and take advantage of enhanced video analytics capabilities.
