Advantech uses 13th gen Intel core processors to enhance edge solutions

Advantech has announced the release of new edge computing solutions powered by 13th gen Intel core processors. The new hardware promises a performance boost, with a marked improvement in responsiveness, content creation, and multitasking than its predecessor, the 12th gen Intel core processors.

These upgraded solutions utilize CPU architectures. The company notes that the improved efficiency benefits various applications, including smart factories, computer vision, intelligent retail, healthcare and edge AI.

Powered by Intel processors with up to 24 cores and 32 threads and equipped with up to 128GB of DDR5 memory, Advantech says these solutions offer efficient multitasking capabilities. Other features include embedded design-in services, industrial-grade components, and a PCIe 4.0/5.0 x16 slot.

The embedded OS and software options offered include Windows, Ubuntu, Yocto BSP, Edge AI Suite and DeviceOn.

Miller Chang, president of Advantech’s embedded IoT group, says the partnership between Advantech and Intel is long-standing, with Advantech being a premier titanium-level partner for over a decade. Both companies have a shared vision of creating a smarter planet.

“Advantech actively contributes to the design of Intel’s latest processors, thereby expediting the development and release of Advantech’s new products and solutions,” adds Chang.

Founded in 1983, Advantech offers system integration, hardware, software, customer-centric design services, embedded systems, automation products, and global logistics support.

Last month, the company partnered with IOTech to deliver integrated edge data processing solutions for smart manufacturing and industrial automation. Company executives say this collaboration simplifies the adoption of AI and machine vision technologies, automates data exchanges and enhances control systems for manufacturers.

Carolyn Swan, the director of partnerships at Advantech IIoT group, highlights the potential of the collaboration, saying: “The partnership between Advantech and IOTech delivers advanced solutions for industrial manufacturing utilizing our edge hardware and IOTech’s leading open edge computing technology.”
