Ubiquity acquires EdgePresence in a strategic move to enhance last-mile solutions

Ubiquity, a digital infrastructure investor, has acquired EdgePresence, an edge data center solution provider. The move aims to accelerate the delivery of sustainable last-mile digital solutions that offer flexible, multi-tenant capabilities for carriers and data hyperscalers.

“As data and compute demands grow, having localized assets adjacent to end users becomes critical to overall network performance and customer success,” explains Jamie Earp, a Ubiquity co-CEO and managing partner. “We are excited to add EdgePresence’s unique set of customer solutions to the Ubiquity platform.

EdgePresence says its Edge Data Centers (EDCs) are purpose-built and modular, with power, physical security, monitoring and cooling systems.

EdgePresence provides facilities in metropolitan cities such as San Diego, Dallas, Los Angeles, Austin, Orlando and Jacksonville. Current tenants include wireless and wired broadband providers and fiber transport providers. Further expansion of additional sites is underway to meet customer demand as well.

Meanwhile, Ubiquity notes that its digital operations offer an easy-to-deploy, secure infrastructure incorporating far-edge functions to minimize latency and enhance network tenant performance.

According to Ubiquity, it develops, acquires and manages last-mile communications assets throughout the US.

The company offers Infrastructure-as-a-Service, a cloud computing service that provides compute, storage and networking resources when needed and charges per use. Ubiquity says this service fosters smart, resource-efficient economic growth without capital investment.

Ubiquity collaborates with organizations such as ISPs, wireless carriers, utilities and municipalities. It aims to empower and enhance customer choice and competition within these communities, company executives say.

“This expansion furthers our commitment to, and focus on, ownership of critical last-mile network infrastructure assets,” adds Earp.

Earlier this year, EdgePresence installed a new EdgePod with 15 cabinets in Orlando, Florida. Within two weeks of the installation, the company said customers occupied all the available spaces.
