Is there still Fog Computing? Workshop to cover use of EU-funded project Rainbow Fog Computing platform

The Data & Web Science Laboratory, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the framework of its MSc program “Data & Web Science” is organizing an online workshop on “Processing Data in the Fog – The example of the RAINBOW Fog Computing platform” with the support of the RAINBOW project.

The workshop, being held on Monday April 4, 2022 at 16:00 CET, includes five presentation sessions with guest speakers from UBITECH Ubiquitous Solutions Ltd, the Laboratory for Internet Computing at the University of Cyprus, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Nicosia, and also researchers from the Data and Web Science Laboratory at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

During the workshop there will be a tour of work related to distributed data management and analytics, as well as presentations of concrete examples based on the innovations developed by RAINBOW and aimed at addressing the challenges of edge and fog computing.

According to their website, the vision of RAINBOW is to design and develop an open and trusted fog computing platform that facilitates the deployment and management of scalable, heterogeneous and secure IoT services and cross-cloud applications. RAINBOW has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 framework program for research and innovation.
