Cognite introduces industrial data modeling for digital twin solutions

Cognite, a provider of industrial software solutions, has launched data modeling capabilities powered by its Industrial DataOps platform, Cognite Data Fusion. According to the company, data modeling is fundamental in developing and sustaining an open industrial digital twin built to industry standards.

“With the latest updates to Cognite Data Fusion, we continue to make it easier to synchronize IT and OT systems and provide simple access to complex industrial data,” said Moe Tanabian, the chief product officer at Cognite.

Digital twins are a powerful tool for industrial companies to gain insights from data, allowing them to understand better and optimize production and maintenance processes. According to Cognite, the ability to model data products using Cognitive Data Fusion accelerates deployment. It also reduces the cost of scaling digital solutions and makes it easier for data engineers, architects and subject matter experts to work together.

The company says Cognite Data Fusion enables users to build data products from a single, trusted source, simplifying the complexity of developing and scaling Asset Performance Management (APM) solutions across an enterprise. It reduces costs and complexity throughout deployment for industrial digital solutions.

Advanced data modeling practices enable asset-heavy organizations to build, deploy, and scale industrial digital solutions faster, resulting in improved ROI, the company says. This is demonstrated by the Forrester Total Economic Impact study, which found that these benefits can result in a 400% return on investment.

“Cognite Data Fusion makes it simple to connect to and operate data flows for a number of industry solutions,” added Tanabian.

In January, Cognite revealed that B. Braun, a medical technology firm, had chosen its product, Cognite Data Fusion, to be the foundation for the company’s Manufacturing Data Management system. By combining Cognite’s Industrial DataOps platform and B. Braun’s manufacturing sector experience, B. Braun can harness digital twins and AI-powered programs to maximize operational efficiency in production, maintenance and sustainability.
