Nscale lands $2B to expand global AI infrastructure platform

UK-based AI infrastructure company Nscale has raised $2 billion in a Series C funding round. This is the largest seen in European history valuing the company at $14.6 billion.
Its latest funding round was led by Aker ASA and 8090 Industries, whose portfolio companies include Oklo and other clean energy developers and other participation from major investors like NVIDIA, Lenovo, Citadel and others.
The capital will propel Nscale’s global AI infrastructure-building to provide GPU compute, networking and data services throughout Europe, North America and Asia.
“This is the fourth industrial revolution; the world is changing at a rapid pace,
says Josh Payne, CEO and Founder of Nscale. “Over the next five years, artificial intelligence will be integrated into every industry, every product, and every job. Accelerating drug discovery, extending human life, autonomizing travel and robotics, lifting productivity, and driving massive growth. This is leading to the largest infrastructure buildout in human history. Nscale is leading this buildout. We are building this foundation that the market sits on, the engine of superintelligence.”
Former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg, former Yahoo president Susan Decker and former UK deputy PM Nick Clegg were appointed to Nscale’s Board of Directors, providing deep experience in technology, governance and global policy.
Nscale’s joint venture with Aker ASA was consolidated, increasing operating efficiency in Norway while continuing investments into local infrastructure and sustainability.
With rising demand for these specialized chips, the company has set out to fulfill this global demand for AI infrastructure services through a vertical integration of energy, data centers and compute elements under one roof.
The funding round also included a Pre-Series C SAFE and was arranged by placement agents Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan.
Armada and Nscale recently outlined a global hub-and-spoke model for Sovereign AI infrastructure.
