Fastly launches Compute@Edge partner ecosystem

Edge cloud platform Fastly has announced the launch of its Compute@Edge partner ecosystem. The initiative includes various integrations designed to help customers work on different edge computing use cases addressing ‘crucial infrastructure requirements’ for modern digital experiences, the company said.

Beyond major cloud service provider integrations such as Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and AWS, the new partner ecosystem has been grouped by Fastly to provide specific edge computing-related services.

These include backend integrations via decentralized and globally distributed storage architectures by Backblaze and Storj, and database pairings for low latency use cases via tools from Fauna, Macrometa, and Upstash.

The Compute@Edge partner ecosystem also includes developer tooling and experimentation services provided by Glitch, Edgemesh, and Optimizely, and logging and monitoring endpoints solutions by Datadog and New Relic.

Finally, the ecosystem offers various security solutions by Auth0 and Source Defense.

“It was important to us to make it easier for developers to take full advantage of edge computing use cases and benefits, so we built this integration ecosystem featuring sophisticated solutions that empower innovation at the edge without leaving speed, safety, and performance behind,” commented Fastly CEO Joshua Bixby.

All of the integrations in Fastly’s partner ecosystem have been reportedly pre-validated and tested to make deployment as seamless and secure as possible.

“We’re excited to see what our customers can do by harnessing Fastly’s powerful serverless environment with our partners’ world-class platforms and services,” Bixby added.

The company is currently looking at expanding the Compute@Edge partner ecosystem and has set up a dedicated email address for businesses interested in joining the initiative.

Fastly has also recently named Alan Chan, former strategic account director at Trustwave, as its first head of channel partnership for Australia and New Zealand.
