Schneider Electric adds to line of rugged EcoStruxure micro data centers

Schneider Electric has expanded its ruggedized EcoStruxure Micro Data Center line by introducing new products to meet the growing demands of IT professionals and solution providers.

According to Schneider Electric, the new R-Series 42U Medium Density Micro Data Center solution provides a fully integrated, turnkey solution for faster deployment of enterprise-scale applications. The company says it provides a secure and sustainable platform for IT applications at the edge or distributed remote locations. As part of the company’s EcoStruxure ecosystem, it provides monitoring capabilities that optimize performance and deliver data-driven recommendations.

“This solution, with its 905-kilogram weight load, is ideal for heavy IT equipment with the enclosure, security, cooling, and power necessary to operate in an industrial environment. It delivers the innovation that is needed in industrial settings,” said Jean-Baptiste Plagne, vice president of offer management, rack and edge systems, and energy management at Schneider Electric.

Schneider Electric claims the EcoStruxure Micro Data Center R-Series 42U Medium Density addresses the needs of IT professionals in three ways:

  • Through a resilient and secure enclosure for an industrial environment.
  • By making ordering and deployment straightforward.
  • Through increased visibility.

The company designed the hardware platform for Industry 4.0 and has a sealed design to protect against dust and moisture build-up. This technology is a comprehensive solution with integrated power, cooling, security and management for deployment installation and scalability. The Micro Data Center comes equipped with an APC Smart-UPS to provide monitoring capabilities and optimize performance.

Schneider Electric EcoStruxure is an open-source, interoperable, IoT-enabled system architecture that offers customers reliability, efficiency and connectivity. EcoStruxure brings together several technologies, including the Internet of Things, mobility sensing, cloud computing, analytics and cybersecurity. Deployed in over 480,000 sites, the solution has the support of over 20,000 system integrators and developers, the company says.

Schneider was in the news earlier this year when it announced its mySchneider IT Partner Program, which supports its IT channel partners with new tools and program structures.
