NTT Data, Schneider Electric promise a new era of AI-driven edge connectivity

NTT Data and Schneider Electric collaborate to empower enterprises in harnessing edge computing through a co-innovation. According to the companies, their solution integrates edge, private 5G, IoT and modular data centers to facilitate generative AI applications at the edge.

NTT Data’s Edge as a Service and Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure join forces to enhance energy efficiency for compute-intensive tasks at the edge, like machine vision and AI inferencing.

Shahid Ahmed, the EVP of new ventures and innovation at NTT Ltd, believes the future of digital transformation lies in processing data from edge devices.

“That’s why we’re excited to announce that we have the solution to meet these obstacles and are ready to lead the way towards a more connected and efficient digital world,” adds Ahmed.

Customers can now set up solutions including edge data centers customized for digital transformation in remote and brownfield locations. High compute demands require critical infrastructure like power, cooling, racks and IoT and AI management systems.

Launching the first private 5G deployment at Marienpark Berlin, the campus covers 30 hectares. According to Guido Schütte, the managing director of Marienpark Berlin, he believes that easy-to-access computational power combined with advanced connectivity are key issues.

“We need an innovative environment with such an infrastructure to satisfy future user demands of our community,” comments Schutte.

NTT Data and Schneider Electric also tested private 5G at Schneider Electric’s Lexington smart factory in the U.S. The implementation includes IoT connectivity, edge analytics and predictive analytics to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability goals, the companies note.

Rob McKernan, the president of the cloud and service provider segment at Schneider Electric, supports clients in implementing connected devices, industrial solutions, and edge computing infrastructure for valuable data insights, focusing on IoT and emerging AI needs.

“After leveraging NTT Data’s expertise in Private 5G connectivity and then maximizing synergies with our EcoStruxure architecture in our facilities, it’s time to expand our collaboration and bring a complete solution to industrial customers,” adds McKernan.

NTT Ltd., as part of NTT Data, is an IT infrastructure and services company catering to global companies. They provide tailored infrastructure solutions for edge-to-cloud networking, multi-cloud environments and IT innovation.

Schneider Electric empowers sustainable progress with digital solutions, integrating energy technologies for homes, buildings, data centers, and industries. They are a global company with a local focus, driving digital transformation for efficiency and sustainability.
