Nearby Computing and Unmanned Life to bring forth autonomous robotics at the edge

Edge computing orchestration and automation provider Nearby Computing is collaborating with autonomous robotic orchestration company Unmanned Life with the aim of reshaping the integration of autonomous robotics and edge computing technologies.

The partnership will see Unmanned Life and Nearby Computing combining their resources to offer solutions that leverage edge computing for autonomous robotics. According to both companies, the alliance aims to transform how businesses deploy, manage, and optimize autonomous systems across various industries.

Josep Martí, CEO at Nearby Computing, says: “Together, our edge orchestration platform NearbyOne, combined with Unmanned Life’s robotics orchestration, precisely addresses market needs in critical industries such as Ports, Energy, and Oil & Gas.

“This strategic partnership signifies a pivotal moment in streamlining operations and driving innovation in these sectors. Our collaboration is the key to unlocking a future where robotics orchestration takes center-stage, bringing efficiency and automation to the forefront while adding substantial value to the deployment process and reducing operational costs.”

Unmanned Life offers a software platform to deploy, control, and orchestrate different types of robotic devices as intelligent, autonomous fleets.

According to insights from Gartner, by 2030, a significant portion of medium to large warehouses are expected to incorporate operational robotics platforms.

Jorge Munoz, co-founder and CCO of Unmanned Life, highlights: “The scalability of the Unmanned Life platform combined with Nearby Computing’s edge orchestration platform enables us to rapidly deploy drone and robotic based applications across industries.

“Not only does it solve problems for end customers, but the ability to quickly install applications at the edge in real-time means it lowers operational costs and adds to the ROI as well.”

One of the key applications, according to both companies, to emerge from this collaboration is U-Security, an extension provided by Unmanned Life’s platform. The extension facilitates the connection and deployment of autonomous drones for security surveillance and facility inspection. Additionally, it features 5G connectivity, autonomous charging, thermal imaging, and AI decision-making.
