IOTech targets industrial downtime with standards-driven edge alarm overhaul

Open edge computing solution provider IOTech introduced the Edge Alarm Service, delivering unified, standards-based alarm integration and management in an industrial IoT edge environment.
By providing flexibility, interoperability and scalability, the service aims to help in managing a diverse set of edge systems.
Based on OPC UA Alarms & Conditions and IEC 62682 standards it is compatible with multiple industrial systems and protocols. It comes with capabilities such as real time alarm evaluation, REST API for full lifecycle alarm updates and intelligent routing towards notification endpoints like email, SMS and Telegram.
“Our new Alarm Service empowers users with unmatched control over their edge alarms, delivering flexibility and interoperability across complex industrial systems,” says Keith Steele, CEO at IOTech. “Built to scale, integrate, and adapt across any edge environment, it enables customers to respond to operational challenges with greater speed, clarity, and confidence.”
Alarms can be expressed through simple files or API, and the basic and advanced models are driving quick adoption for large deployments. Intuitive alarm and management can be achieved in a user-friendly web interface.
The solution improves safety and response time in operations by helping to ensure that the most important alerts reach the proper team members or systems quickly.
