Imagimob, FotaHub to integrate over-the-air updates, giving tinyML continuous learning abilities

Imagimob, an edge intelligence and tinyML platform, has partnered with FotaHub Inc, a cloud-native technology startup, on an over-the-air update service. As part of the collaboration, FotaHub’s cloud-based over-the-air update and provisioning service for firmware will integrate with Imagimob’s tinyML platform and enable continuous learning for edge AI models.

Enterprise customers can use the Imagimob AI platform to create production-ready deep learning models and perform mass deployment. Using the FotaHub service, these deployed models can be updated as needed while in the field. The updated models will automatically upload to the FotaHub repository for versioned updates as soon as they are ready, making them available for use by end-user devices.

Imagimob and FotaHub will offer a secure, easy-to-use deployment infrastructure that helps businesses stay competitive in the rapidly evolving edge computing space, the companies say. Integrating tinyML and the over-the-air update capabilities will improve operational efficiency while reducing production costs and increasing the product’s lifetime.

Imagimob AI is an end-to-end development platform for developing machine learning models for resource-constrained edge devices. The platform allows engineers to collect edge data and utilize it to provide an enhanced customer experience. Imagimob AI builds production-ready models for a wide range of edge applications, including audio, gesture recognition, human motion, predictive maintenance and material detection.

Why is an over-the-air update important for edge computing?

The ability to do over-the-air updates will be integral to next-gen IoT and artificial intelligence applications. It keeps the end-user device and ecosystem updated with the latest firmware. The accuracy of artificial intelligence models is constantly improving, especially for edge computing applications. Customers may use more precise and robust models for mission-critical applications with over-the-air update service.

According to the companies, the collaboration between tinyML and SMART has resulted in a solid, practical solution for the intricate tinyML ecosystem. Once robots are sent for manufacturing, it’s difficult to update the firmware, which results in longer wait times for market updates and increased IT workloads. The over-the-air upgrade allows for firmware and model updates to occur remotely, even when the device is in use. Clients can also stay up to date with the most current features.
