Gcore, Ampere unite to offer high-demand cloud services

Gcore, a public cloud, edge computing, content delivery, security and AI solutions provider, has joined forces with Ampere, a company specializing in cloud-native processors.

This collaboration combines Gcore’s expertise in cloud infrastructure with Ampere’s 128-core processors designed to enhance cloud workloads.

The companies claim that the processors excel in performance, linear scalability and power efficiency, making them a good choice for data center deployments. Ampere’s processors also enable efficient parallel processing of workloads.

Gcore and Ampere say the collaboration aims to deliver reliable and efficient cloud-native applications based on scalable and elastic cloud architectures.

Vsevolod Vayner, the edge & AI cloud product director at Gcore, says he is excited about collaborating with Ampere.

“Together, we can provide our customers with powerful and efficient virtual machines that will strengthen their efforts to deliver and maintain modern cloud applications,” he adds.

Ampere executives also claim that its processor outperforms the Intel Xeon 3rd Gen and AMD EPYC 3rd Gen processors, with average speeds 2.5x and 1.7x faster for typical workloads on a single node.

Gcore VMs run on HPE ProLiant RL300 Gen11 servers equipped with the Ampere Altra processors. According to company executives, these servers facilitate cloud application deployments.

According to Jeff Wittich, Ampere’s chief product officer, the collaboration with Gcore marks a significant step towards providing cloud-native solutions tailored to the demands of high-performance cloud workloads.

“Working together allows us to extend the reach of our Altra processor family and bring its performance benefits to a broader range of customers,” adds Wittich.

In May, Ampere introduced the AmpereOne Family of processors, featuring up to 192 single-threaded Ampere cores, which the company says is the highest core count in the industry. This product is built on Ampere’s new custom core utilizing its internal IP.
