DH2i, Red Hat enable faster deployment of critical workloads across multi-cloud and edge environments

DH2i, a provider of always-on IT infrastructure, has partnered with Red Hat to enable the efficient deployment of edge workloads across physical, virtual, private and public cloud environments. DH2i’s DxEnterprise multi-platform recently received Red Hat OpenShift certification on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

According to the companies, organizations can leverage the power of Red Hat OpenShift and DxEnterprise to build lightweight application execution environments using containers. Organizations like Software AG Government Solutions have embraced DH2i DxEnterprise’s smart high-availability clustering software. By uniting its FedRAMP-approved cloud with DH2i DxEnterprise’s high availability clustering software, Software AG Government Solutions minimized the SQL server availability group Kubernetes cluster downtime.

DxEnterprise features a new container sidecar to enable application-level high-availability clustering for containers in Kubernetes. To guarantee uninterrupted service, DxEnterprise can automatically switch to a dependable backup system if Red Hat OpenShift requires a failed pod restart. This allows for zero disruption to the application.

“Red Hat is pleased to collaborate with DH2i to certify DxEnterprise containers on Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Enterprise Linux to further enable customers across the hybrid cloud,” said Mark Longwell, the director of alliances, Hybrid Platforms Business Unit at Red Hat.

According to the companies, integrating DxEnterprise and Red Hat OpenShift together unlock advantages, including:

  • Isolation: The edge application can run in one container while the DxEnterprise sidecar feature complements high availability clustering services, reducing application failures.
  • Deployment: According to the company, deploying DxEnterprise’s sidecar container is easier.
  • Scalability: Once the DxEnterprise sidecar container is deployed, it’s easy to scale it to support more pods.
  • Near zero downtime: The DxEnterprise sidecar provides almost zero downtime for containers in Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Centralized management: With DxE sidecar, users can access comprehensive management features through a single pane of glass in Red Hat OpenShift.

“For our channel partners and end users, this collaboration signifies that they will now be able to deploy Red Hat OpenShift together with DxEnterprise in order to virtually eliminate downtime and enjoy faster and more successful container application deployments across hybrid and multi-cloud environments,” said Don Boxley, the CEO and co-founder of DH2i.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux supports a multi-cloud hybrid environment, bringing flexibility and reliability to edge computing and SAP workloads. The solution delivers more than just an operating system; it provides hardware, software and a cloud partner ecosystem. This platform optimizes operating system images for edge computing and facilitates streamlined deployment at scale. It eliminates interruptions because of software updates, thereby preserving application uptime, the company says.
