AtlasEdge appoints CEO; Crate.io welcomes head of global marketing

Edge data center provider AtlasEdge continued to build out its executive team and its bank account with an executive hire and investment — both of which were sourced from Digital Realty.

AtlasEdge announced Giuliano Di Vitantonio, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Segments at Digital Realty, will join the company as CEO from January 2022. Together with the appointment, AtlasEdge confirmed it has received a strategic investment from Digital Realty.

“AtlasEdge is quickly becoming a key partner to businesses across Europe, and we are pleased to partner with them to meet the needs of this important region, and to advance our edge strategy as the market develops,” commented Digital Realty CTO Chris Sharp.

The partnership between the companies will bring together Digital Realty’s expertise in designing and operating solutions at scale and AtlasEdge’s localized and ultra-low latency digital infrastructure to facilitate the deployment of 5G, gaming, and IoT applications.

Digital Realty has also recently partnered with Vapor IO and Hivelocity to bring the various elements of edge computing to a deployment in the Atlanta market.

“Our global edge strategy includes partnering with key players around the world, and we are excited for AtlasEdge to accompany us on the journey with their unique assets and strong market position,” Sharp added.

In addition, the appointment of AtlasEdge’s new CEO follows a previous collaboration between the companies, as part of which Di Vitantonio contributed substantially to AtlasEdge’s strategy.

“It has been a privilege to help develop and strengthen Digital Realty’s customer relationships and industry-leading innovation,” he said, commenting on the news.

“I’m excited to continue working alongside the company, leveraging its unparalleled data center expertise to fuel AtlasEdge’s growth.”

The news comes weeks after the company hired Henry Harris as General Counsel and Head of Corporate Development.

Crate.io appoints new Head of Global Marketing

The enterprise data management company appointed senior marketeer Ann Thueland as Head of Global Marketing.

Before joining Crate.io, Thueland held senior marketing positions at Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu, and Dell, among others.

After joining the company, the marketing expert will oversee Crate.io’s strategic marketing activities as it renews its efforts in the high-performance scalable distributed database sector.

“We are delighted to welcome Ann Thueland to the leadership team at Crate.io,” said CEO Eva Schönleitner.

“Her experience and understanding of helping to build hyper-growth global businesses will be invaluable as we enter the next growth phase for our company. We see huge opportunities to scale around the Edge.”

The key hire comes months after Crate.io raised $10 million, bringing its total funding to nearly $31 million.
