Acumera acquires Scale Computing to forge edge AI software leader

Edge networking and computing platforms provider Acumera has acquired Scale Computing, combining their expertise in edge computing, virtualization and secure networking to form a new company called Scale Computing.
The press release announcing the merger states this will create the largest edge computing-focused software company, capable of serving businesses with 1 to 100,000 locations globally.
The new Scale Computing will integrate Acumera’s AcuVigil and Reliant Platforms with Scale Computing’s edge AI and virtualization solutions to enhance edge computing capabilities.
The combined company aims to simplify AI deployment, improve real-time decision-making, and enhance operational efficiency for industries such as retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and energy.
“We believe Acumera and Scale Computing customers and partners will benefit from having the ability to leverage both the Scale Computing Platform and the Acumera SaaS solutions for edge computing, secure edge networking, managed network services, and PCI compliance for multi-site businesses,” says Bill Morrow, CEO of the new Scale Computing “The newly combined company’s technology offerings are a significant step forward in our vision to empower organizations of all sizes with intelligent, AI-ready edge infrastructure that reduces complexity while enhancing performance and resilience. The acquisition is expected to accelerate innovation and provide scalable solutions for distributed enterprises and Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
Oaktree Capital, a strategic investor in Acumera, supports the merger, highlighting its potential to deliver smarter and more efficient edge solutions.
Former Scale Computing CEO Jeff Ready will serve as President and Chief Marketing Officer of the new company.
