NTT DATA and Ericsson move to industrialize private 5G and edge AI deployments

NTT DATA and Ericsson are accelerating enterprise private 5G and edge AI use cases with a strategic partnership.
The collaboration will bring private 5G as a fully managed global service with uniform security and operations globally.
“As enterprises adopt AI at the edge, they need partners who can bring connectivity, intelligence and security together in a way that actually works in production,” says Shahid Ahmed, global head of edge services, NTT DATA, Inc. “Together with Ericsson, we can deploy these solutions faster, operate them at scale and deliver outcomes. Private 5G gives enterprises the foundation they need to achieve real, measurable impact with edge AI and physical AI deployments.”
AI will be integrated straight into enterprise connectivity for real time intelligence and edge autonomous decision making.
The partnership encompasses four focus areas: global private 5G managed services; AI powered enterprise connectivity; repeatable industry solutions, and; unified global go-to-market plans.
It is targeting manufacturing, transportation, energy, mining and smart city industries with use cases such as predictive maintenance of assets, autonomous operation tech and intelligent traffic management, for example.
The collaboration is aimed at moving enterprises from pilots to scalable, production-ready solutions with a measurable ROI. This joint effort overcomes the challenges of scaling AI and connectivity while allowing reliable, production-grade operations across industries.
Last month NTT DATA also partnered with AWS targeting regulated enterprise cloud and agentic AI at scale.
