Mobius Labs secures funding for computer vision tech

Mobius Labs has recently announced the company has raised €5.2 million (US$6.14 million) in a Series A funding round led by Ventech Europe with the participation of Lunar Ventures, Atlantic Labs, Space Capital, Apex Ventures and other angel investors.

The move brings the total capital invested in Mobius Labs to €8.8 million (US$10.40 million) and will see the company step up its efforts in computer vision technologies.

“This new round of funding will help accelerate our plans and expand quickly as a company,” the company’s CEO, Appu Shaji, commented in a blog post.

Like many firms during the pandemic, Mobius Labs struggled at its beginning, but the firm quickly recovered from the initial shock, and in the last year and a half saw the team doubling in size.

“The last 18 months have been very challenging for many firms, but we have continued to grow throughout the pandemic and look forward to enhancing our product and taking computer vision technology to the next level,” Shaji added.

Thanks to the new funds, Mobius Labs will reportedly expand its geographical footprint with a strong focus on the United States.

The firm will also explore additional markets and go-to-market activities in the media and space sectors with geospatial intelligence.

Mobius Labs is planning to further develop its no-code AI Superhuman Vision solutions, which the company says allows the software to be trained by regular users and then applied to multiple new applications and sectors.

“Funding R&D based innovation is fundamental to us, and we plan to improve core algorithms that power our few shot capability features and develop further algorithms for edge computing that can be deployed in many devices and scenarios including cameras, mobiles, or satellites,” the company said, commenting on the news.

According to Mobius Labs, computer vision applications will witness exponential growth in the coming years, ultimately leading to mass adoption, and the company aims to become a leader in this space.

“Our dream is to make ‘Mobius Inside’ a reality: as we had the slogan of Intel inside in the software sector, in the upcoming years we will see ‘Mobius Inside’ in all artificial visual eyes of different applications and processes around the world.”
