mimik partners with Orange subsidiary on 5G, IoT, AI adoption

mimik Technology and consultancy firm Business & Decision will partner up to promote the acceptance of Industry 4.0 technologies like 5G, internet of things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI) across a wide spectrum of industries. The deal is an important part of the expansion of mimik’s business outside of North America, as Business & Decision is a subsidiary of France-based Orange Group, which provides communications and IT services around the globe.

The collaboration will have Business & Decision incorporate mimik’s edge cloud platform to spread solutions that reduce latency and lower bandwidth consumption while fortifying data security for clients in industries like retail, transportation, finance, and the public sector. Business & Decision says mimik’s cloud solution enables smart devices to function as a cloud server, which lowers the total cost of ownership, data center footprint, and carbon emissions, while also giving them control over customers’ privacy.

Carlo Schots, sales director of Business & Decision, says the promise of low latency from 5G has yet to be realized due to application speeds and performance that is dependent on the underlying IT architecture. But with mimik’s platform, Schots says it can bypass traditional, centralized cloud solutions and process development workloads in an edge environment that enables real-time connectivity at 5G speeds.

In a video from mimik Technology, Schots says Business & Decision is drawn to Industry 4.0 because of its rapid growth due to merging connectivity, context automation, AI, and machine learning in operational technology and information technology environments. He also says with uncertain times and changes due to geopolitics and the economy, that its clients are looking for adaptability with its architectures to address such concerns.

“Business & Decision has the proven expertise and experience in systems integration and data-driven technologies that further innovation and accelerate digital transformation,” says Sam Armani, senior vice president of business development at mimik Technology. “We look forward to our partnership to help Business & Decision’s customers accelerate their digital transformation and attain unprecedented efficiencies and performance improvements enabled by mimik’s hybrid edge cloud platform and edge-based microservices.”

The partnership notches another collaboration between mimik and the edge industry. mimik partnered with Amazon Web Services to bring its Hybrid Edge Cloud platform to AWS customers, and IBM to build AI-enabled collaborative workflow solutions designed to help accelerate automation and digital transformation across manufacturing, retail, IoT and healthcare.
