Latent AI, Sigma Defense and Abaco demonstrate hardware-agnostic edge AI for disconnected military operations

Edge AI solutions provider Latent AI will demo, in partnership with Sigma Defense and Abaco Systems, an interoperable edge AI ecosystem at AFCEA West 2026 that supports the Department of War’s Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA).

AFCEA West is a major American event focused on naval and maritime technology, running February 10-12 in San Diego, California. The demonstration showcases adaptive, mission-ready edge AI processing that runs on multiple hardware platforms and removes integration hurdles while avoiding vendor lock-in.

“Edge AI alone is not enough for real-world operations. AI must be adaptive, interoperable and supported by a resilient ecosystem that keeps systems operational as conditions change,” says Jags Kandasamy, CEO and co-founder, Latent AI. “Our partnerships with Sigma Defense and Abaco Systems allow us to deliver mission-ready edge AI that can be deployed, updated and trusted at the tactical edge without waiting on distant infrastructure.”

Latent AI’s Field Tactical Suite (FTS) allows warfighters to field, update and refine AI models in less than 1-5 minutes and maintain performance effects in denied, degraded, intermittent and low-bandwidth environments.

Combining with the containerized services from Latent AI, the Olympus platform from Sigma Defense offers secure orchestration, automatic updates and resource optimization when space, weight and power (SWaP) are severely limited.

Rugged modular mission hardware from Abaco Systems complements Latent AI’s hardware-agnostic models, working efficiently on both CPU and GPU resources in adverse environments.

The partnership seeks to provide robust real-time intelligence and essential AI capability, including EO/IR tracking and automatic target recognition, when connectivity becomes fleeting.

Late last year Latent AI and Wind River teamed up to embed edge AI in mission-critical systems.
