Honeywell, Analog Devices join forces to accelerate commercial building digitization

Honeywell and Analog Devices, Inc (ADI), unveiled a partnership at CES 2024 to explore the digitization of commercial buildings without replacing existing wiring. The objective is to reduce costs, waste, and downtime while integrating into building management systems.

According to the companies, numerous commercial buildings in the United States require modernizing. The rise in data transmission is fueling a greater need for cloud storage and faster processing.

The companies say digitizing building management systems can cut energy consumption, enhance network performance, and bolster security without requiring extensive costs or remodeling. ADI and Honeywell have worked together for ten years.

Martin Cotter, SVP of industrial and multi markets and president of ADI EMEA region, states: “In this next phase of our work together, we are thrilled to see these ADI technologies move beyond factory automation and into Honeywell’s building management system to help customers reduce building energy consumption, which can save money, improve resiliency and help meet emissions reductions goals.”

The companies note that Honeywell will integrate ADI’s single-pair Ethernet and software configurable input/output solutions into its building management systems, enabling long-reach connectivity and reducing installation time and cost.

Honeywell’s chief technology officer, Suresh Venkatarayalu, states that the company is transforming building management systems to assist building owners in addressing current challenges.

“This collaboration with ADI would offer building owners the ability to upgrade and enhance their wiring without a significant upfront investment and with less labor and environmental impact,” he says.

Meanwhile, ADI says its offering reduces product complexities for Honeywell by enabling the creation of a single product version for various needs to future-proof control and automation for building remodeling.

ADI adds that this process speeds up product installation, lowers inventory needs and facilitates cost-effective changes.

Honeywell says it offers solutions for a smarter, safer and more sustainable world. Analog Devices, Inc. is a semiconductor company driving edge advancements with integrated technologies.

In 2023, Honeywell agreed to acquire SCADAfence, an OT and IoT cybersecurity solutions provider. This move integrates SCADAfence’s capabilities into Honeywell Forge Cybersecurity+, enhancing the company’s cybersecurity software solutions portfolio.
