Armada and Sophia Space launch earth-to-orbit edge AI platform

Armada, an edge computing infrastructure company and Sophia Space announced the availability of a fully integrated Earth-to-space edge AI platform that offers a mix of terrestrial and orbital systems to provide real-time AI and data analytics.

The platform integrates Armada’s Galleon ground edge data centers with Sophia Space’s TILE orbital compute modules and SOOS operating system. It enables seamless edge computing across distant and mission-critical systems, like Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Real-time AI processing, adaptive learning, and secure communication with end-to-end encryption in a zero-trust framework is provided in the system.

“Our mission is to bridge the digital divide,” says Dan Wright, CEO of Armada. “This partnership extends the edge into space, enabling real-time operations anywhere they’re needed on Earth and beyond.”

Uses include defence (real time decision making), energy and mining (predictive maintenance), disaster response (faster relief) and space missions (lesser communication costs).

The platform improves the operational efficiency by dynamically optimizing computing power and minimizing latency.

The partnership is intended to modernize space infrastructure, as well as connect Earth and space digitally.
