Zscaler builds new Zero Trust SASE solution to simplify traditional SD-WAN

Zscaler builds new Zero Trust SASE solution to simplify traditional SD-WAN

Zscaler, a cloud security provider, has introduced a new solution that consolidates various security aspects into a single-vendor Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) offering, called Zscaler Zero Trust SASE.

Available now, the solution utilizes Zscaler Zero Trust Artificial Intelligence (AI) to aid organizations in streamlining operations and enhancing security by implementing Zero Trust principles across users, devices, and workloads.

Furthermore, Zscaler has announced the general availability of its Zero Trust Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) solution, along with a range of plug-and-play appliances. These offerings aim to facilitate the modernization of secure connectivity for branch offices, factories, and data centers, as well as phase out ineffective firewalls and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).

The foundation of these new solutions lies in a Zero Trust architecture, where user and device access is determined by business policies. Traditional network and firewall setups often introduce risks and complexities, leaving vulnerabilities that can be exploited by ransomware attacks. Zero Trust SD-WAN aims to provide secure connectivity while mitigating business risks and reducing network complexities, according to the company.

Naresh Kumar, VP of product management at Zscaler, highlights the importance of providing a seamless and secure experience for users regardless of their location or device.

Zscaler Zero Trust SD-WAN will connect and secure users, devices, sites, and workloads using our single-vendor SASE platform, without the cyber risks of traditional SD-WAN,” Kumar adds.

Zscaler employs an adaptive AI engine to assess risks associated with users, devices, destinations, and content. The company notes that the assessment is done by incorporating telemetry from an array of daily signals, along with third-party risk intelligence.

“We continue to see strong interest and significant adoption of SASE among enterprises, along with a move to simplify, consolidate, and reduce costs,” says Christopher Rodriguez, research director, security and trust at IDC.

“With a strong emphasis on its Zero Trust heritage, Zscaler has made a bold move to introduce a solution that combines its popular SSE platform with a new Zero Trust SD-WAN offering that can help these enterprises on their SASE journey.”

Zscaler’s platform offers integrated AI-powered cybersecurity and data protection capabilities, including Firewall as a Service (FWaaS), Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), and Data Loss Prevention (DLP). The Zero Trust SD-WAN solution from Zscaler includes plug-and-play appliances that facilitate zero-touch provisioning and integrated gateway capabilities. The solution also features centralized management through a cloud-based console, enabling policy management across users, locations, and clouds.
