Zenlayer, Mobily team up to boost edge computing in Saudi Arabia

During the recent Capacity Europe event, Zenlayer, a distributed edge cloud provider, announced a strategic partnership with Mobily, the second-largest internet service provider (ISP) in Saudi Arabia.

This alliance aims to provide edge compute and connectivity services to businesses in Saudi Arabia. The companies say the partnership will also expand Zenlayer’s global network coverage and enhance Mobily’s service offerings in the country.

The collaboration will see Zenlayer bring its technology and services to Mobily’s data centers in Saudi Arabia, while Mobily will provide data center and network services to Zenlayer’s clients. According to the companies, the pairing holds promise for various industries, such as gaming, energy, healthcare and retail, offering low latency and enhanced user experiences.

Gaming companies, in particular, stand to benefit from this partnership. Saudi Arabia, the 19th largest gaming market globally, has experienced a 41.1% year-on-year growth and houses more than 21 million gamers. The country is committed to solidifying its global gaming hub status, investing $180 billion annually.

Joe Zhu, the founder and CEO of Zenlayer, comments on the partnership, stating: “This is our first strategic partnership in the Middle East and its significance cannot be overstated.”

“Mobily is a dominant player in Saudi, which has been instrumental in shaping the digital landscape of the country. Their commitment gives me much confidence that we can together make a significant impact on the digital transformation of the region,” he adds.

Zenlayer delivers on-demand connectivity through edge infrastructures in other emerging markets like Southeast Asia, India, China, South America and Africa.

Earlier this year, Zenlayer joined forces with Cyxtera to offer cloud connectivity in emerging markets worldwide. This partnership enables customers to connect from Cyxtera’s data centers to cloud providers and multiple sites across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The collaboration aims to provide local businesses with fast and reliable connectivity.
