Tata Elxsi, Mimik forge partnership on edge, 5G

Tata Elxsi and Mimik Technology will collaborate on a partnership to explore 5G networks and mobile edge computing platforms for digital media and Industry 4.0.

The cooperation will seek to bring pre-integrated solutions for smart content delivery networks and media distribution. Some examples include over-the-top video delivery, multi-feed video aggregation, and contextual content curation. A more specific example provided is e-sports delivery from the edge with contextual curation experiences to customers of competitive gaming.

“The combination of Tata Elxsi’s strong heritage in networks and Mimik’s hybrid edge cloud and mobile edge computing expertise will open up an exciting array of opportunities, specifically in the media segment, where we will revolutionize content delivery and provide compelling interactive experiences to consumers,” says Fay Arjomandi, founder and CEO of Mimik.

Tata Elxsi, the high-tech business of Indian business giant Tata Group, currently has an edge computing presence in vertically integrated solutions for telecom cloud orchestration and automation, connected vehicles, digital health, content delivery and media distribution.

Vancouver, British Columbia-based Mimik offers a hybrid edge cloud to the market.

A press release says the two companies can deliver resiliency and low latency for the media, automotive, and Industry 4.0 segments while preserving data privacy and security.

Rajagopalan Rajappa, chief technology officer of communications at Tata Elxsi, says, “We believe that this partnership will bring immense mutual benefits to co-create solutions for Media, content distribution services, Industry 4.0 and Automotive Edge.”

Tata Elxsi also formed a partnership with Syntiant Corp, while Mimik announced its collaboration with IBM.
