Sonic the EdgePod: UK’s Sonic Edge launches new micro data centers for edge computing

Sonic Edge Ltd has launched its Sonic EdgePods, a range of MDC’s (Micro Data Centers) specifically designed to meet the need to distribute compute, storage and services closer to the end user.

The EdgePod can be built to support either multi-tenancy or sole occupancy and range from 6 meter 50kW 5 rack up to 12metre 120kW 10 rack with either DX, Chilled water or Liquid cooled options.

“EdgePod’s are designed to operate autonomously and are built to customers’ required Tier level and design specifications,” explains Stuart Priest, Founder of Sonic Edge Ltd. “Because of the unique way the EdgePod’s are designed and built, we can deploy them in weeks rather than months, enabling customers to accelerate technology deployments far quicker than has traditionally been experienced in the past.”

“Since launching our range of Sonic EdgePod’s in March we have had enquiries from Kenya, Indonesia, Spain, Germany and the UK,” adds Priest. “The fact we are completely autonomous in terms of the vendor technology we use to build out the Pods, means our customers can be involved in the EdgePod design from day one, if required. Each Pod is bespoke to them and their business needs, which gives them a real sense of buy-in and product satisfaction.”

The company notes its Sonic EdgePods are built in the UK, designed using the latest modular building technology, and conform to all industry standards and certifications.
