Numurus updates open-source NEPI to help expedite edge AI development

Numurus, a Seattle-based smart system solution provider, has expanded the capabilities of its flagship product, NEPI, an open-source software suite based on Linux software distribution. The solution provides middleware with sensor drivers, AI management tools, remote user interfaces, communication drivers and ROS-based connectivity. The company says it is helping enterprise customers expedite AI software development and reduce time-to-market.

Numurus reports that organizations often exhaust their resources by constructing basic software to remain competitive in the market. With its flagship product NEPI, Numurus says it is addressing this problem.

“By choosing NEPI, smart solution developers can leverage our 5-year development investment and speed up the delivery of their own innovations,” said Shanif Merchant, chief product officer at Numurus. “We look forward to speaking with customers about their smart product development challenges and the powerful capabilities NEPI provides in helping them achieve industry 4.0 transformation.”

The Numurus NEPI software platform can integrate into robotic, smart sensing and edge computing applications. Further, Numurus designed the NEPI Linux software distribution for GPU-heavy computing, such as the Nvidia Jetson processor family. Integrating NEPI with these heavy processing units, users can bring products to market faster and explore the potential of associated technologies in various AI and smart sensing industries.

Numurus also revealed that Wesmar, an Inov8v Marine Group Company, has adopted NEPI to develop its sonar projects. The partner leveraged NEPI and the Numurus professional services team to demonstrate and ship its smart sonar products to customers.

“Wesmar was able to demonstrate and deliver smart sonar sensors to our customers within 5 months with NEPI software and Numurus professional services,” said Roger Fellows, the president of Inov8v Marine Group. “They have gone above and beyond our expectations, and we are very pleased to have their support as we look to apply NEPI across our entire product line.”

Last fall, Numurus received $2 million in funding to support the expansion of its product development and professional service divisions.
