Maher Terminals taps Nokia edge to enhance operations in New Jersey

Container terminal operator Maher Terminals has collaborated with Nokia and Future Technologies Venture to digitalize operations with Nokia’s Edge platform and private wireless technology.

The Nokia Edge silicon offers secure, high-capacity, low-latency wireless connectivity needed for mission-critical applications to perform real-time analytics for increased automation and security.

The system also delivers important functions such as yard control, crane control and gate operations at Maher Terminals 450-acre facility in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey.

“We are excited to collaborate with Future Technologies Venture and deploy a platform that will help Maher Terminals achieve its business and sustainability goals,” says David de Lancellotti, vice president of Enterprise Campus Edge Sales, Nokia.” With our Edge platform for industries that integrates devices, edge computing, applications, and private wireless connectivity, Maher Terminals will enhance their operational efficiency and visibility across their port operations.”

Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) provides secure private wireless for tracking assets, positioning, and vehicle-to-person communications. With Nokia’s industrial devices and network control applications, data is transferred at high speed efficiently and connected devices can be remotely configured and upgraded with firmware.

The Network Digital Twin capability enables live telemetry to better predict and validate wireless coverage. This collaboration is designed to improve operational efficiency, cybersecurity, and the sustainability aspirations of Maher Terminals.
