EdgeConneX to add new data center in Israel to meet increasing infrastructure demands

EdgeConneX has announced its expansion in the Israeli market by constructing an additional data center in Rishon. The new addition will bring a 7.5MW facility to market and is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2023.

The new EdgeConneX data center in Rishon will offer an array of fiber and peering options for enhanced connectivity to local and international internet service providers. This expansion follows the completion of two existing data centers near Tel Aviv in Herzliya and Petah Tikva.

The increased demand for secure and resilient infrastructure from hyperscalers, cloud service providers and enterprises is one of the primary reasons behind EdgeConneX’s decision to expand its presence in this location. According to a recent report by Research and Markets, the Israel data center market size by investments is projected to reach USD 795 million by 2026.

Commenting on the expansion, Dick Theunissen, the managing director of EdgeConneX’s EMEA division, says: “We’re thrilled to be well underway with the construction and development of the Rishon site. The new facility and additional expansion plans will bring the necessary capacity and innovation to grow business and meet increasing hyperscaler and enterprise customer needs.”

The company adds that the Rishon facility marks a milestone in EdgeConneX’s mission to offer efficient, low-cost services designed for diverse industries, including content, cloud, networks, gaming, automotive, SaaS, IoT, HPC and security.

EdgeConneX made headlines in March for obtaining $3.3 billion in sustainability-linked financing to build digital infrastructure to meet clients’ data center needs.
