Avassa, Scale Computing collaborate to deliver comprehensive edge computing solutions

Scale Computing, an edge computing vendor, has partnered with Avassa, an edge application orchestration solution, to provide a comprehensive IT solution for companies looking to modernize their IT infrastructure. With Scale Computing’s expertise in distributed infrastructure and Avassa’s expertise in application lifecycle management, the two companies say they can offer a complete solution for increasing efficiency in edge environments.

We’ve been fans of Scale Computing from the start, and we’re delighted to partner up with them in a common passion for creating best-in-class edge computing solutions, said Carl Moberg, CTO of Avassa. “The edge creates value with comprehensive IT solutions and with Scale Computing’s expertise in distributed infrastructure, they’re a great complement to our application-centric solution for secure and robust edge application lifecycle management.

Scale Computing edge solutions give customers an autonomous infrastructure that can run current containerized applications and older legacy applications virtually. Users may use this to centrally manage and monitor their distributed infrastructure and applications throughout the lifecycle. For example, they can manage maintenance updates, deployment, service level monitoring and problem resolution.

Founded in 2020, Avassa is an application orchestration solution designed for edge computing. With Avassa, users can take the cloud capabilities they have already mastered and extend them to their distributed edge environment. By working together, the companies say that Scale Computing and Avassa can provide a solution that runs everything from applications to hardware.

According to Craig Theriac, VP of Product Management at Scale Computing, the partnership between the two companies will allow customers to run multiple applications on the same platform, with legacy VMs alongside containerized applications. Additionally, customers can dynamically create, update, and manage applications in containerized environments. They can accomplish these tasks using health and behavior observability, targeted deployments, and lifecycle management.

“We are excited about the possibilities this partnership brings our customers,” said Theriac.

Gartner recently awarded Avassa as a 2022 Cool Vendor for edge computing for its work on simplified edge application deployment at scale. A Cool Vendor is a smaller organization that offers a service or technology that is impactful, innovative or intriguing, according to Gartner.

Meanwhile, Scale Computing recently raised $55 million to develop further its virtualization, edge computing, and hyper-converged technology. Morgan Stanley Expansion led this funding round. The proceeds will go towards restructuring debt and investing more in research and development.

Analysis

This partnership between Scale Computing and Avassa is yet another sign that the edge computing market is maturing and becoming more comprehensive in its offerings. As the market continues to grow, we may expect to see more partnerships like this one that aim to provide complete solutions for the edge.

With Scale Computing’s expertise in distributed infrastructure and Avassa’s application-centric solution for edge application lifecycle management, the two companies are well-positioned to provide a comprehensive solution for customers.
