Avassa, Axiomatics collaborate to unveil edge authorization solution

According to Axiomatics and Avassa, enterprises looking to implement Zero Trust strategies can now take their access control to the edge. The two companies have teamed up to deliver a solution for authorizing and managing access at the edge.

The solution combines Axiomatics’ attribute-based access control (ABAC) platform with Avassa’s application orchestration platform for the edge. The partnership promises harmonized security across cloud and edge environments.

Avassa and Axiomatics have joined forces to deliver a policy orchestration solution at the edge. The companies say that this new solution provides companies with an easy way to extend their zero-trust approach. This strategy’s core lies in the importance of robust, consistent, reliable authorization policy compliance. According to the companies, this partnership enables companies to simplify the management of complex authorization strategies at the edge, allowing for a secure and effective digital landscape.

“Managing and orchestrating authorization solutions at the edge are commonly seen in industries such as retail, banking, hospitality, healthcare, and property tech,” stated Babak Sadighi, the co-founder and head of strategy for Axiomatics. “Together with Avassa, Axiomatics provides an authorization solution that is a critical part of any Zero Trust initiative and can be automated just as if it would have run in a centralized cloud environment.”

Avassa is an application orchestration platform for the edge that enables businesses to manage the lifecycles of edge applications securely and efficiently, according to the company. The Stockholm-based company was founded in 2020 and was recently named a Gartner Cool Vendor in Edge Computing 2022.

Axiomatics is the originator of runtime, fine-grained authorization delivered with ABAC for applications, data, APIs and microservices. The award-winning authorization platform from Axiomatics enables enterprises to share sensitive digital assets only with authorized users in the appropriate context.

“The edge computing market is growing rapidly and companies are now looking for solutions to manage their applications in the most efficient, secure, and cost-effective way possible,” said Carl Moberg, the co-founder and CTO of Avassa.

According to the companies, organizations deploy modern cybersecurity strategies, such as Zero Trust, to ensure their security efforts remain consistent across the organization and can accommodate future growth. By using the ABAC solution, for example, organizations can make real-time authorization decisions. At the same time, it can also provide the flexibility and scalability necessary for a successful Zero Trust initiative.

“We are excited to partner with Axiomatics to provide a seamless means of authorization at the edge,” added Moberg.

Avassa also recently teamed up with Cysec, a provider of secure operative systems to help users manage edge applications on Cysec’s Arca OS. According to the companies, various industries benefited from this collaboration, including manufacturing, automotive, hospitality and retail.
