Nokia, Intel and partners open private 5G and edge AI test hub in Switzerland

Nokia, Datwyler IT Infra, Intel, and SIPBB launched a private 5G and AI-powered edge innovation hub in Switzerland to support startups and nonprofits.
The hub, located at Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne, provides a testbed for real-time AI and private 5G solutions without infrastructure costs. It aims to drive innovation in industries such as energy, mobility, health, and manufacturing through predictive analytics, AI assistants, and secure edge connectivity.
The infrastructure includes Nokia Digital Automation Cloud, MX Industrial Edge, and Gen AI solutions such as Nokia MX Workmate for connected workers.
“At Nokia, we believe technology should empower industries to increase efficiency, safety and sustainability,” says, Michael Aspinall, Head of Enterprise Campus Edge sales in Europe at Nokia. “Through our partnership with Intel, Datwyler, and SIPBB, we are supporting digital equity by enabling innovators to test future-ready solutions without upfront infrastructure costs to accelerate development, validate use cases, and scale digital transformation in the real world.”Intel Xeon processors and edge AI capabilities enable applications such as predictive maintenance, AI-enhanced safety, and energy-efficient automation. The hub promotes natural human-machine interaction via Gen AI-driven digital assistants for intuitive communication.
The initiative seeks to attract global investment, support Swiss economic growth, and accelerate industrial digital transformation. The collaboration highlights scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions for enterprises leveraging private 5G and AI technologies.
