Nexcom unveils compact PCs for high-speed wireless communication in vehicles and railways

In response to the increased demand for high-speed public wireless communication, Nexcom has recently unveiled their latest VTC 1031 and nROK 1031 compact mid-range vehicle and railway PCs. The company says these PCs have an Intel Atom x6413E processor, expansion slots and I/Os. They offer video surveillance, edge AI computing safety and a wireless gateway.

The compact VTC 1031 and nROK 1031 are powered by an Intel Atom x6413E 1.5GHz quad-core processor, improving overall performance. Each has one SO-DIMM DDR4 slot with 4GB of memory, one 2.5″ SATA 3.0 slot, and one M.2 Key M for SATA 3.0 connectivity.

“Although the compact VTC 1031 and nROK 1031 measure 180 x 180 x 50 mm and 180 x 180 x 60 mm respectively, they support VGA/HDMI displays and expansion modules, perfect for traffic applications,” explained Nextcom on its website.

The VTC 1031 and nROK 1031 have new technology that supports the latest Wi-Fi 6/6E and 5G modules. According to the company, this will provide an exceptional wireless experience with low latency, extreme speed, and high-density connections for entertainment and tasks. The modems are compatible with 5G Sub-6 modules and Wi-Fi 5/6/6E modules with client mode, real AP and full Wi-Fi router functionality to support hundreds of simultaneous connections.

The VTC 1031 and nROK 1031 offer RJ45 and ruggedized M12 X-coded connectors. The -C2 SKU models have a dual PoE board for a video surveillance camera connection. According to the company, PoE cameras encourage a safe environment via platform surveillance to avoid accidents and a coupling monitor to ensure railway vehicle connection.

“In ensuring further safety, all recorded footage will be sent and stored in the NVR, ready to be exported and shared whenever necessary,” stated Nexcom.

Nexcom says cameras with AI capabilities encourage traffic safety by reducing the time it takes to react to potential accidents. The cameras can work with either Google Coral AI accelerator or Hailo AI. They help improve safety by recognizing traffic lights, detecting intruders and understanding driver behavior, for example.

In addition to monitoring passenger counting and seat occupancy for space optimization, this system can track arrival time and bus route optimization, freight management and railway operating systems, the company says.

“The VTC 1031 and nROK 1031 are exceedingly reliable advanced platforms for vehicle and railway applications, paving the path for a smart city,” added Nextcom.
