IOTech boosts North American operations with Dell investment

IOTech, an edge software solutions provider, is expanding its operations in North America thanks to an investment led by Dell Technologies Capital. This monetary boost will accelerate product development and enhance the company’s open-edge data platform’s market positioning, IOTech says.

The recent investment also saw contributions from existing investors such as SPDG, Northstar Ventures and the Scottish Investment Bank.

IOTech says it simplifies the accessibility, actionability and management of industrial data for providers and consumers of industrial edge solutions.

Gregg Adkin, the managing director at Dell Technologies Capital, says that IOTech’s platform enables businesses to leverage the extensive data generated in the Industrial IoT edge.

“Building out in the North American market creates an opportunity to address new vertical use cases and help more organizations realize the full potential of their edge data,” Adkin states.

According to IOTech, the investment will fuel the company’s expansion efforts in NA, enabling enhanced sales, marketing and pre-sales support. Recent additions of field CTOs further strengthen the company’s technology expertise.

Its current clientele includes industrial automation, renewable energy and building automation companies. Its customers range from Accenture, Johnson Controls and King Steel to Schneider Electric.

IOTech also aims to amplify its U.S. presence by appointing tech leader David C. King. As the former CEO of FogHorn, acquired by Johnson Controls in 2022, King will offer advice and guidance as a board and company advisor. For instance, the company says King will provide insights as it launches new edge products, develops its IIoT solutions portfolio and explores new global markets.

“It’s an exciting and pivotal time for the company and I’m looking forward to serving in an active role in its continued growth and success,” states King.

IOTech launched Edge Xrt 2.1, a data connectivity solution for industrial systems, earlier this year. It offers a normalized OPC UA data interface, OT device discovery capabilities and improved performance and scalability.

IOtech says that Edge Xrt is a versatile solution that accelerates the deployment of edge systems. It offers flexibility by supporting various deployment options, including native Linux applications, containerized or embedded as a library.
