Dell, AlefEdge, Tech Mahindra partner to build MEC edge for 5G

Dell Technologies has partnered with AlefEdge and Tech Mahindra to offer a complete edge computing infrastructure as a service for telecom operators. The offer comes from the modernization of the operators’ network and IT infrastructure combined with the evolution of cloud computing. The companies note that the solution meets the growing demand for traffic and processing, which guide the implementation of 5G networks, with less latency, more autonomy and capacity, better cost-benefit and security.

According to IDC, the implementation of the fifth generation of mobile telephony will bring a 40% increase in traffic on operators’ data networks. The main use cases for this type of technology are related to advanced applications such as: Video Analytics, Gaming, Augmented Reality, CDN (Content Delivery Networks), among others.

With the new MEC infrastructure solution offered as a service by Dell Technologies, AlefEdge and Tech Mahindra, operators will be able to implement cloud computing environments within the infrastructure of mobile networks, without requiring modifications to existing systems, providing multicloud environments in a convergent and agnostic way. Thus, operators can offer a better experience for their users and launch products, bringing new revenues while optimizing network capacity and costs.

The solution can be hired in the Flex on Demand model, with an option to pay for use, which guarantees flexibility for consumption of IT solutions. In this way, operators will be able to expand the consumption of resources without the need to change equipment, paying only for actual use and counting on Dell Technologies’ world-class support and service, recognized for their agility and excellence.

With a complete portfolio of IT infrastructure enabled for edge processing, Dell Technologies provides the computing power needed for the exponential traffic growth scenario. Dell PowerEdge servers have specific characteristics for the demands of edge computing that allow them to operate in adverse conditions of physical space, temperature, dust, etc., and can be installed in locations outside the traditional Data Center. State-of-the-art features, such as hardware accelerators, allow data handling at the cutting edge and a scalable, secure and agile digital structure, which is essential to absorb the demand for mobile data consumption.

“5G technology will not only bring speed and data transmission capacity, but also drive the digital transformation of companies and society, by enabling the creation of applications that will improve people’s lives and ensure more productivity, such as smart cities and connected objects. To support customers in this new scenario, Dell Technologies presents the most comprehensive portfolio of validated and customized infrastructure solutions, designed to support 5G and Edge deployments,” explainss Raymundo Peixoto, senior vice president of Data Center at Dell Technologies in Latin America.

AlefEdge has been working with Edge Internet’s global ecosystem, enabling cloud environments implemented on the edge, including in the places where the telecommunications towers are located, without requiring updates to existing networks, whether 3G or 4G, in a 100% adherent to 5G.

“AlefEdge, together with our strategic partners, enables Edge environments in an agile way, so that operators and application developers can anticipate their plans for 5G with concrete steps,” adds Duda Gouvêa Vieira, head and partner of AlefEdge in Brazil.

We are living in an increasingly digital world, which requires companies to specialize in state-of-the-art solutions and tools on the market and with a technical team of specialists in constant search to improve their processes. In this context, TechMahindra Network Services as a Telecommunications Systems Integrator aims to enable service providers and operators to reduce their costs by transforming their networks by adopting innovative technological solutions.

“Within the scope of this collaborative partnership, there is a common purpose for growth as we adapt our resources to the digital business ecosystem. With Dell Technologies and AlefEdge, we form one of the most strategic partners for us. Together we can offer truly differentiated values to our customers, with competitive solutions and services to meet the challenges of digital transformation towards the development and deployment of 5G, ” says Marcio Roberto Ribeiro, operations manager LATAM Southern Cone at Tech Mahindra.

With the solution offered by the partnership between the three companies, telecom operators can quickly integrate a mobile edge computing environment into their technology portfolio, towards low-latency applications typical of 5G, such as augmented reality and artificial intelligence at the edge ( Edge AI).
