Cradlepoint launches NetCloud SASE, redefining wireless security for the 5G era

Cradlepoint, a subsidiary of Ericsson known for its cloud-based LTE and 5G wireless network and security solutions, has unveiled its latest innovation, NetCloud SASE, a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution.

The platform integrates cellular-centric SD-WAN and security features, providing enterprises with a unified solution tailored to their needs, according to the company. The early access version of NetCloud SASE is now available, with general availability slated for late Q2 2024.

The global market for 5G and 4G/LTE enterprise wireless WAN is projected to reach a staggering $5.5 billion in revenue by 2027, according to IDC forecasts. While the adoption of these technologies enables organizations to expand their capabilities and improve service delivery, the report finds it also exposes them to increased cybersecurity risks.

Pankaj Malhotra, head of enterprise networking and cybersecurity products at Cradlepoint, emphasizes the company’s extensive experience in simplifying cellular networking for enterprises operating in diverse and challenging environments. He also highlights the significance of NetCloud SASE in enhancing the security posture of enterprises, particularly those with limited IT resources, by seamlessly integrating cellular, SD-WAN, and security functionalities into a unified platform.

Key features of NetCloud SASE include cellular optimization, zero trust architecture, isolation technology, and security for unmanaged devices. The company notes that the solution also establishes a zero-trust foundation, obscuring IP addresses, blocking east-west traffic, and minimizing the attack surface as the network scales.

Additionally, the NetCloud SASE solution aims to protect users from malicious web activity, phishing attacks, and malware-infected attachments without compromising the browsing experience. The solution also segregates corporate applications from unmanaged devices, mitigating the risk of malware infections.

“Streamlining the transition from wired to wireless WAN, NetCloud SASE provides a common networking and security policy engine and consistent provisioning experience across all SASE features,” says GigaOm senior industry analyst, Ivan McPhee.
